Slovenia's cycling network to grow: EU funding for cycle paths in municipality Krško
Ljubljana, 16 March 2021 – Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy has issued a funding decision for the project Cycling connection Krško – Sotelsko - Brestanica. Total cost of the project that will be developed in the scope of the Agreement on the development of Posavje region amounts to EUR 375,000; the project will receive over EUR 110,000 from the European Regional Development Fund.
As part of the project, municipal authorities plan to have a 3.17-kilometre long cycle path running north of Krško along the left bank of the Sava River constructed. The newly developed cycle path will ensure that the municipality is better connected with the towns of Senovo and Brestanica. Additionally, this addition will help expand the cycle network in the municipality and improve the cycling infrastructure in the region with smooth, non-slip, well-drained surfaces for cyclists and associated cycle infrastructure elements like surface markings, signage and street furniture.
