Slovenian Presidency of the Council of the EU and ESPON Programme to organise ESPON Week in Bled

Slovenian Presidency of the Council of the EU and ESPON Programme to organise ESPON Week in Bled

One of the highlights of the ESPON Week which will take place from 29 November to 2 December will be an introduction to the new ESPON 2030 Cooperation Programme and the official launch of the consultation process to define thematic priorities for future research activities by ESPON. The discussion will revolve around four areas: Perspective for all people and places; Climate-neutral territories; Governance of new geographies and Places resilient to crises.

A new policy brief summarising ESPON research on the ‘’Quality of life for territorial and citizen-centric policies’’ will be put into spotlight on 30 November and discussed at a high level on 1 December when a new Atlas featuring multiple indicators to depict the quality of life in Slovenia and in neighbouring regions will also be presented. The week will also feature a series of online workshops to spark the discussion on the latest ESPON research findings on various topics, including interregional relations in Europe and carrying capacity of tourism.

All ESPON Week events will take place online due to new covid restrictions.
