Promoting sustainable mobility: EU funding for road reconstruction in Miklavž na Dravskem polju
Ljubljana, 23 April 2021 – Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy has approved funding for the project “Establishing cycling connections and pavements along the reconstruction of the Ptujska cesta road in Miklavž na Dravskem polju”. The project implemented by the municipality Miklavž na Dravskem polju under the Agreement on the Development of the Podravje Region is worth EUR 1.5 million with European Regional Development Fund contribution standing at EUR 492 thousand.
As part of the project, the municipality Miklavž na Dravskem polju will develop cycling routes, pedestrian areas and public lighting, and relocate communication lines, namely establishing 1.7 kilometres of cycling routes and 1.7 kilometres of areas for pedestrians.
The investment is an important regional project that will result in a developed cycling connection between nearby areas. Establishing a cycling route and pavements along the Ptujska cesta road in Miklavž na Dravskem polju will ensure a safe connection of the entire settlement to the already existing cycling route and pavement, which in the north of the settlement connects with the neighbouring Maribor Urban Municipality. This will result in developing a continuous connection for implementing sustainable forms of mobility between the urban centres of the municipalities.
