Promoting sustainable mobility: EU funding for a footbridge and bike path in Novo mesto
Ljubljana, 16 July 2021 – Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy has approved EU funding for the project Footbridge and Bike Path – Irča vas. The project worth a little under EUR 1.76 million will be implemented by the Urban Municipality Novo mesto and will receive EUR 745 thousand of Cohesion Fund support.
As part of the project, Urban Municipality Novo mesto will construct a footbridge and bike path in the settlement Irča vas. The footbridge and bike path will cross the Krka River between Lastovče and Groblje. The investment will also result in constructing 190 metres of a bike path on the left bank of the Krka River with the bridge connecting to the existing traffic areas on the right bank of the Krka River. The bridge is part of the cycling connection Drska-Bršljin.
The investment will improve sustainable mobility, traffic safety, air quality, and cycling conditions.
