Promoting sustainable mobility: EU funding for a cycling connection in Kočevje
Ljubljana, 23 April 2021 – Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy has approved funding for the project “DRR: Establishing cycling connections in municipality Kočevje”. The project implemented by the municipality Kočevje under the Agreement on the Development of the Jugovzhodna Slovenija Region is worth EUR 4 million with the European Regional Development Fund contribution standing at a good EUR 2.5 million.
As part of the project, municipality Kočevje will establish cycling routes along several city streets and connect the city with Dolga vas to Gornje Ložine via the existing cycling routes. 5.23 kilometres of new cycling connections will be built.
The project will result in safe cycling connections to ensure sustainable mobility. Municipality Kočevje also expects daily migrations by bicycle to work and school to increase.
