Improving road user safety: EU funding for traffic arrangement in Kranj
Ljubljana, 7 October 2021 – Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy has approved European Regional Development Fund support for the project ITI Setting up systems for traffic calming, informing urban passenger transport users and directing drivers to parking areas. The said project falls under a series of projects aiming to improve road user safety and reduce traffic congestion.
As part of the project, Urban Municipality Kranj intends to set up systems for traffic calming, informing urban passenger transport users and directing drivers to parking areas, namely by setting up display units showing speed, parking lot occupancy – also alongside parking metres and bus station displays. The municipality will also set up a platform displaying occupancy of parking areas, urban passenger transport bus services, charging stations and the occupancy of the KRsKolesom bike rental system. Thus, pedestrians, cyclists and public passenger transport vehicles will benefit from the project while drivers will find unoccupied parking lots easier. The project will be completed by next year.
Thus far, over EUR 19 million has been allocated to measures for improving traffic safety under the 2014-2020 financial perspective.
