Expanding the network of cycling routes: EU funding for cycling routes in municipality Ivančna Gorica
Ljubljana, 23 March 2020 – Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy has approved EU funding for the project “DRR Cycling routes in the municipality Ivančna Gorica”. The project, implemented in the framework of the Agreement for the Development of the Osrednjeslovenska Development Region, is worth a little over EUR 2 million and will receive over EUR 1 million of European Regional Development Fund support.
As part of the project, the municipality Ivančna Gorica will build a 9.2-kilometres long cycling route of which 4.2 kilometres will run along the bicycle area separated from the areas of other traffic modes, and 5 kilometres along public roads. The municipality will therefore contribute to improving sustainable mobility, in particular for daily migrations, and to improving road safety and conditions for cyclists. The construction of bicycle routes will also have an indirect positive impact on municipality’s tourist attractiveness.
