EU support for promoting social inclusion of children and young people with special needs in the local environment

Ljubljana, 20 July 2017 – Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy, the Managing Authority for ERDF, ESF and Cohesion Fund, issued grant decision for the call for proposals ''Promotion of social inclusion of children and young people with special needs in the local environment 2’’. The earmarked funding available under the call for proposals which is to be issued by the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport amounts to EUR 463,000, of which EUR 370,000 or 80 % comes from the European Social Fund.

The call seeks to strengthen social and professional competences in children and young people with special needs. This will empower such individuals to integrate in the wider local community more easily and will create job opportunities for them, allowing them to lead a more quality independent life later on. The call will co-finance activities aiming to develop new models or adapt or upgrade existing models for strengthening social and professional competence of children and young people with special needs. The call targets institutions which provide educational programmes for children with special needs, including deaf and hard of hearing, blind or visually impaired, functionally impaired children and young people, and primary schools providing special education programmes.

The call for proposals ''Promotion of social inclusion of children and young people with special needs in the local environment’’ was approved already in January 2017, but fewer operations than initially expected were approved back then. As a result, part of the earmarked funding for the call for proposals remained unspent, and the second call for proposals is making it available again.
