EU funding for the project Dom na Krasu
Ljubljana, 4 March 2020 – Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy, the Managing Authority for the ERDF, the ESF and the Cohesion Fund, has issued a funding decision for the project Dom na Krasu. The EUR 2.2 million project will be co-funded by the ESF, with the contribution from the Fund standing at nearly EUR 1.8 million.
The purpose of this pilot project is to implement the deinstitutionalization process at the institutional care facility Dom na Krasu with a view to promoting and safeguarding the dignity and respect of users of its services, i.e. adults suffering from long-term mental health problems and adults with developmental and mental disorders. Provided appropriate support and empowered, these adults will be equipped with the right skills, sense of dignity and self-worth helping them reintegrate into the community and live as independently as possible, despite their issues and challenges.
The project will contribute to reorienting the provision of mental health care to community-based settings and decreasing the number of admissions to institutional care facilities by responding promptly to any emergency situation and facilitating integration of service users in the local environment and community. The project will importantly reorganize the way the existing institutional service providers work, adjusting their work methods to meet the needs of users who decide to leave institutional care to embark on a new independent life while providing them with constant support services.
The Social Protection Institute of the Republic of Slovenia will participate as a partner in the project.
