EU funding for sustainable urban mobility
Ljubljana, 29 September 2017 – Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy, the Managing Authority for ERDF, ESF and Cohesion Fund, issued a grant decision for the Call for proposals for co-financing sustainable urban mobility measures which should be published today by the Ministry of Infrastructure. The call makes over EUR 20 million available, of which over EUR 17 million comes from the Cohesion Fund.
The call aims to co-finance the projects that promote the development of sustainable urban mobility and, as a result, contribute to the improvement of urban air quality and connections between urban area and its wider rural hinterland, reduce traffic congestion, enhance the quality of the living environment in urban areas and increase traffic safety.
The purpose of the call for proposals is to provide funding to:
- pedestrian infrastructure (construction and/or reconstruction of sidewalks and other footpath connections, construction of pedestrian crossings and reconstruction of crossroads, and implementation of the shared space concept as an experimental approach to traffic management arrangements),
- cycling infrastructure (construction and/or reconstruction of cycling connections, setting up of bicycle parking facilities and rollout of the public bicycle-sharing system),
- bus stops (construction and/or reconstruction of public transport stops).
Municipalities across Slovenia are eligible for funding under the call for proposals.
