EU funding for supporting higher education mobility among disadvantaged students at Faculty of Ljubljana
Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy, the Managing Authority for ERDF, ESF and Cohesion Fund, has issued a grant decision for the programme Mobility of students from disadvantaged backgrounds in 2019, University of Ljubljana. The total programme budget amounts to EUR 650,800. European Social Fund will contribute EUR 520,640, which accounts for 80% of the programme funding.
The programme aims to enhance the participation of Slovenian students from disadvantaged backgrounds in international exchange programmes and help them gain new skills and competencies to meet labour market demands, while increasing the overall effect of mobility.
By participating in the mobility programme, the students from disadvantaged backgrounds should gain valuable soft skills and competencies, improve foreign language skills, and learn how to cope, study or work abroad by building their inter-cultural skills. The programme should also help build independent individuals equipped with teamwork skills and ability to adapt to ever changing situations, which should substantially improve their job prospects after the study. Opening up and promoting internationalisation of higher education by way of integration of future graduates in the labour market should indirectly spur internationalisation in other sectors of society too.
The grant decision is just one in a series of funding decisions promoting student mobility at Slovenian universities.
