EU funding for quality living of people with intellectual disabilities in Koroška

Ljubljana, 23 November 2020 – Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy has issued a financial support decision for the project “Establishment of residential group care for adults with intellectual disabilities in the cohesion region Vzhodna Slovenija”. The project worth EUR 4.8 million will be implemented by the Training, Work and Care Centre Črna na Koroškem and will receive over EUR 3.8 million of European Regional Development Fund support.

The project aims to provide spatial conditions for quality living for people with severe, mild and combined intellectual disabilities. 13 new units will be established at 9 locations in the municipalities of Dravograd, Slovenj Gradec, Radlje ob Dravi, Muta and Mežica, to where 70 users will be moved.

The investment will provide the appropriate infrastructure for comprehensive deinstitutionalisation within the Training, Work and Care Centre Črna na Koroškem. 5 mobile units will also be purchased which will be used for providing at-home services and for establishing an information point for informing the entire local community, as well as for counselling, advocacy, coordination of the mobile unit and other services.
