Ljubljana, 24 September 2020 – Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy has issued a funding decision for the call for proposals Purchase of mobile housing units or mobile standalone adequately equipped air filtration units. The call, which is to be published by the Ministry of Health this Friday, makes EUR 3 million in EU funding available. The contribution will come from the European Regional Development Fund.

Putting in place appropriate working arrangements and organizing life of residents in various care settings play an important role in preventing and controlling the spread of COVID-19 or any other infection. Such steps are of utmost importance to keep safe the elderly and other residents in retirement or nursing homes, occupational activity centres or other types of institutional care settings. The layout of long-term care facilities is usually designed in a way that makes it challenging for managers to put in place measures that ensure there are separate clean/unclean paths, and staff rooms are usually inadequate or underequipped which hinders effective implementation of the required preventive measures, including the establishment of isolation wings to meet the needs of residents with confirmed COVID-19, residents with potential COVID-19 infection and healthy residents. The purchase of adequately equipped mobile housing or air filtration units will facilitate day-to-day organizational decision-making, making the facilities better equipped and ready to effectively face the challenges of potential COVID-19 transmission among residents, while maintaining their living environment comfortable and meeting the needs of residents to ensure that quality of life does not change.
