EU funding for energy renovation of buildings owned and used by municipalities

Ljubljana, 14 February 2018 – Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy, the Managing Authority for ERDF, ESF and Cohesion Fund, issued a grant decision for the ‘’Call for proposals for co-financing energy renovation of buildings owned and used by municipalities in 2018, 2019, and 2020’’ which is to be published by the Ministry of Infrastructure on 16 February 2018. The call for proposals makes a total of EUR 53.8 million available, including beneficiaries' own resources and private resources under public-private partnerships. The contribution from the Cohesion Fund stands at EUR 15 million.

This is already the third call in a series of calls for proposals which makes the funding available to municipalities for their deep energy renovation projects, which entails a whole-building approach through coordinated implementation of energy efficiency measures on the building envelope (e.g. façade/wall, roof, floor) and upgrade of technical building systems (e.g. heating, ventilation, air conditioning, hot water preparation) in a way which allows, as far as technically feasible, to realise the economically viable potential of energy renovation.

The call is open in the scope of investment priority ‘’Supporting energy efficiency, smart energy management and renewable energy use in public infrastructure, including in public buildings, and in the housing sector’’ of the ‘’Operational Programme for the Implementation of the EU Cohesion Policy in the Period 2014-2021’’.
