EU funding for deep renovation of the former secondary school of civil engineering in the old town centre of Kranj
Ljubljana, 3 February 2021 – Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy has issued a funding decision for the project Renovation of building located at 2 Cankarjeva ulica street. Project budget amounts to over 1,9 million euros. The project which will be implemented by the Urban Municipality Kranj will receive a contribution from the European Regional Development Fund totalling 1,2 million euros.
As part of the old town revitalisation programme, municipal authorities in Kranj are working to halt environmental degradation in the old town centre. Thus, deep renovation works will be carried out on the building of the former school of civil engineering to retrofit and repurpose the building. After the project completion, the renovated building will be able to provide two strands of cultural activities – the premises will accommodate Kranj music school and will also be used for a variety of cultural events catering to the needs of Kranj residents. The goal of the project is to make the old town centre lively and vibrant part of the town. The repurposing of the building provides for efficient and quality use of urban space, increases its attractiveness by providing an open public programme and contributes to improving the quality of life in Kranj.
