EU funding for cycling route in Kranj
Ljubljana, 16 November 2022 – Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy has approved nearly EUR 650 thousand in EU funding for the project Integrated Territorial Investments Kranj cycling routes: Zlato polje – Kranj railway station.
As part of the project, Urban Municipality Kranj will upgrade and further develop its cycling infrastructure, by also reconstructing the bridge over the Sava River, pedestrian infrastructure and utility infrastructure connecting the existing cycling network the Koroška cesta street (the Zlato polje neighbourhood at Stošič) in the city centre with the Kranj railway station. The municipality will thus ensure safe daily migration of cyclists and pedestrians between the city centre and the railway station, which is an essential public transportation mobility hub between the city of Kranj and its urban hinterland, Ljubljana and other centres of the Gorenjska region municipalities. The project worth EUR 2,209,016.29 will receive European Regional Development Fund support of EUR 648,616.43 and is planned to be completed by fall 2023.
