EU funding for advancing workplace health and safety in organisations
Ljubljana, 3 September 2018 – Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy, the Managing Authority for ERDF, ESF and Cohesion Fund, issued a grant decision for the call for proposals for co-financing the project ‘Training for employers to advance workplace health and safety’. The call, which makes a total of EUR 1.1 million available, will receive a contribution from the European Social Fund (ESF) equalling EUR 905,000, of which a little under EUR 600,000 will go to cohesion region Vzhodna Slovenija and EUR 532,000 to cohesion region Zahodna Slovenija.
The call for proposals seeks to support the project that raises awareness of the importance of implementing workplace health and safety practices in organisations. The health and safety measures aim to develop a positive health and safety culture, improve the working conditions, and create a healthy working environment, especially for workers over 45 of age. The project will include, inter alia, online training classes for employers on health and safety practices informing them how to create safe and healthy working environments, and educational videos showing how workplaces can be adapted to physical and mental needs of workers, as well as other resources and promotional content targeting the general public.
The call for proposals addresses the topical issue of high unemployment rate among older workers aged 55 and over which is a result of early retirement trends in the last decades and increasingly high rates of sick leave among workers.
