Ensuring access to safe drinking water: EU funding for upgrading the water supply system in Pomurje
Ljubljana, 10 June 2021 – Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy has approved EU funding for the project Upgrading the water supply system C – Phase 2. The project worth EUR 10.9 million will be implemented by Municipality Gornja Radgona in cooperation with Municipality Apače and Municipality Sveti Jurij ob Ščavnici under the Agreement on the development of the Pomurje region. The Cohesion Fund contribution stands at EUR 4.8 million.
In cooperation with the municipality Apače and the municipality Sveti Jurij ob Ščavnici the municipality Gornja Radgona, which acts as the project manager, intends to upgrade the already-realised project Drinking water supply and water source protection in Pomurje – water supply network for system C. The project of upgrading the water supply system will result in upgrading and improving the water supply system Pomurje C, namely upgrading the pumping station at the Podgrad water source, constructing a 39.4-kilometre long water supply network and one new pumping station.
The project will ensure long-term reliable, stable and safe supply of drinking water for all the 9467 residents in the area of the municipalities Apače, Gornja Radgona and Sveti Jurij ob Ščavnici.
