Ljubljana, 4 May 2021 – Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy has approved EU funding for the project Wastewater collection and treatment in the Savinja River basin – Municipality Laško. The EUR 4.3 million environmental infrastructure project that will be implemented by Municipality Laško under the Agreement on the development of the Savinjska region will be supported by the EU, with the contribution from the European Regional Development Fund standing at over EUR 2.1 million.

As part of the project, a total of 7,780 metres of missing sewer pipes will be installed in the agglomeration Laško. In addition, five new pumping stations along with a stormwater detention tank will be constructed. Municipality Laško will thus ensure that additional 595 residents are connected to the public wastewater collection system feeding wastewater in the wastewater treatment plant.

Once completed, the project will help increase sewerage connection rate figures, with the percentage of the population in the agglomeration Laško connected to the public sewerage system standing at 98.27%.
