Clean water for a green Slovenia: EU funding for wastewater infrastructure in Lucija
Ljubljana, 19 July 2021 – Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy has approved EU funding for the project Wastewater collection and treatment in the Lucija agglomeration – Agreement on the Development of Regions. The EUR 2.36 million wastewater infrastructure project that Municipality Piran will implement under the Agreement on the Development of the Obalno-kraška Region will be supported by the EU, with the contribution from the Cohesion Fund amounting to almost EUR 843 thousand.
As part of the project, Municipality Piran will construct 4253 metres of secondary sewerage system in the Lucija agglomeration to connect 185 population units to the municipal wastewater collection and treatment system. The investment will also result in remedying the critical areas of the sewerage systems with saltwater intrusion.
