Boosting the economy: EU funding for a new business-economic zone in Nova Gorica

Ljubljana, 18 May 2021 – Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy has approved EU funding for the project New construction of a business-economic zone Nova Gorica-Kronberk. The EUR 5.9 million project will be implemented by Urban Municipality Nova Gorica under the Agreement on the development of the Goriška region and supported by the EU, with the contribution from the European Regional Development Fund standing at nearly EUR 2 million.

As part of the project, Urban Municipality Nova Gorica will set up a new business-economic zone covering 4.43 hectares. The project will include roadworks and construction of utility infrastructure servicing the new business zone. More specifically, a total of 747 meters of access roads will be constructed, 1.622 meters of water pipes of various diameters, 360 meters of sewer pipes, 1.078 meters of storm sewers of various diameters and 488 meters of electricity cables will be laid and a total of 530 meters of power network delivered. In addition, public lighting and 580 meters of telecommunication cables will also be provided. Also, 112 cubic meters of fire water will be stored and available in case of a fire breakout.

The new, fully serviced business-economic zone will help increase the added value of SMEs operating in the Goriška region. It will also promote entrepreneurship and harnessing of new business ideas, providing assistance and support services to individuals eyeing starting up a business.
