Boosting economy in the Podravje region: EU funding for the small business zone in Markovci
Ljubljana, 7 May 2021 – Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy has approved EU funding for the project “Arrangement of the small business zone – Phase 4”. The project worth EUR 600 thousand will be implemented by the municipality Markovci in the framework of the Agreement on the Development of the Podravje Region and will receive EUR 259 thousand of European Regional Development Fund support.
As part of the project, the municipality of Markovci will build infrastructure in the existing small business zone Novi Jork in a new, expanded section. More specifically, it will establish a sewerage and water supply network and channel telecommunications and distribution for the low voltage network. It will also regulate rainwater in public areas, roads and lighting. This will establish proper spatial conditions for economic activity and the establishment of the appropriate development infrastructure that will enable boosting the high-quality economic and social development of the municipality.
By implementing the said project, the municipality will establish conditions for the promotion and development of entrepreneurship, the establishment of new small and medium-sized enterprises and new jobs.
