Let's make learning fun

A group of selected primary and secondary schools across Slovenia delivers a set of different extra-curricular activities as part of the project Let's make learning fun 2017-2021. The project is about giving individual children who are talented or gifted, or have special needs or interests a unique opportunity to learn, grow and nurture their gifts and development in a different, personalized learning environment, especially by doing activities that improve reading literacy, build language, social and learning skills, improve critical thinking skills, higher-order thinking skills and research skills, encourage innovative and inventive spirit, creativity, orientation towards sustainability and entrepreneurial mindset in connection with career orientation. These extra-curricular activities are carried out through individual sessions or small group workshops.

The project combines the roll-out of new forms and strategies of teaching and professional development of teachers in primary schools with the aim of contributing to improved student performance and better future learning outcomes, enhancing social inclusion of school-age children and raising the bar on teaching standards in primary schools. By disseminating good practices and in turn multiplying the effect, the aim is to have at least 10,990 managers and members of teaching staff in primary and secondary schools properly trained to carry out the activities that promote building of skills and competencies in school-age children.

Teachers of the Primary School Danila Lokarja delivered a series of summer workshops in partnership with the Inter-municipal Association of Friends of Youth from Ajdovščina where children were able to develop their language and social skills in a fun and simple way with the help of their teacher. This kind of activities sometimes tends to be pushed aside because of lack of time during regular classroom work. Similarly, St. Stanislav’s Institution and Primary School Selnica ob Dravi, partners of the Let’s make learning fun project, presented their activities in the EU Project, My Project campaign 2019, whereas Primary School Pohorskega bataljona Oplotnica entered the video contest EU Story, My Story by submitting the video you can view below.
