Apartments Brina bring together environment, energy and tourism
The goal was to enhance energy efficiency and increase the use of renewable energy sources and thus preserve the authenticity of the available accommodation. The apartments were subject to energy retrofit covered by EU funding which were awarded under the call for proposals “Support to micro, small and medium-sized enterprises in the sector of tourism to enhance material and energy efficiency in the disadvantaged border areas”.
The project aims to reduce energy use, utilise renewable energy sources and reduce energy consumption and waste production. They made the biggest contribution to reducing carbon dioxide emissions by renovating the central heating system and by making a transition from liquefied petroleum gas to using energy from groundwater with the help of a modern water/water heat pump. By installing energy efficient windows, they were able to reduce energy use. Enhancing RES was also a result of installing high-quality and high-performance solar connectors. They also reduced water consumption by installing energy-saving fittings in the kitchen and bathroom. All of the existing waste capacities were replaced by recycle bins for separate collection of waste, they also added a joint bin for biological waste and glass.
They believe that the “introduced measures will not only contribute to reducing environmental impact but also to providing greater comfort for our guests. We thus brought together three segments – environment, energy and tourism.”
